As part of the Pathfinder Market Renewal Area scheme aimed at reviving rundown neighbourhoods in the local community, West Pennine Housing Association embarked on a project to replace a row of sub-standard Victorian houses with seven new sustainable homes in Halifax Road, Rochdale. Designed specifically to be environmentally friendly and economical in the use of energy and water, the three-storey dwellings were intended for rent by large, multi-generational families. In tackling the issue of fuel poverty and the provision of affordable warmth Jaga’s Strada radiators were installed in every room of the new homes.
With one tenth of the weight and water content of a traditional steel panel radiator, the powerful LowH2O element inside the Strada offers rapid yet regulated heating and has a reaction time three times faster than the performance of an ordinary radiator. This low mass, low water content unit will only emit heat when necessary and so on average can deliver a 10% energy saving resulting in long-term savings on heating costs for tenants.
