Jaga Land Heating Contract For New Network Rail HQ building

05/05/2011 - by Jaga Admin

Jaga Heating Products has secured an order valued in the region of £200,000 to supply its Mini Canal trench heating for the new Network Rail Headquarters building in Milton Keynes.

The 37,000m² building, which is situated on the north-western edge of the city core on the site of the former National Hockey Stadium, was designed by GMW and built by BAM Construction. Approximately 1000 metres of Jaga Mini Canal trench heating were specified by Scott Wilson who acted as the building services engineer, sustainability and building physics consultants. When completed in December 2012, the Network Rail HQ will house up to 3,000 staff and is targeted to achieve a BREEAM Excellent rating - making it one of the most highly sustainable buildings in Britain.

Enhancing the sustainability credentials of the building, the Mini Canal trenches use Jaga’s low mass, low water content heat exchangers which help save on energy costs and remain ultra-responsive to temperature changes thereby reducing over-heating. For this contract, a standard aluminum rigid grille was selected for most of the Mini Canal units from the 25 different aluminum, stainless steel and wooden grille options available from Jaga. The trench heating will be delivered to site fully-assembled, tested and ready to fit by BAM.

Commenting on winning the order for this landmark new building Phil Marris, Managing Director of Jaga said: “We are delighted to have won this highly sought-after contract. Trench heating fits perfectly with the aesthetics of the building’s design and Mini Canal, specifically, provides powerful heating from compact, fully assembled and factory tested units. Beyond this however, what we understand was critical in sealing the deal, was Jaga’s ability to offer a quick turnaround of just three weeks on product supply”.
